I:CO launches a take-back program with Jack & Jones for worn clothing and shoes in German stores

Ahrensburg, August 2022. I:CO announces its new partnership with Jack & Jones. Together with the Danish menswear fashion brand, I:CO will collect worn clothing and shoes as part of its take-back program. Starting this month, customers are able to drop off their discarded clothing and shoes at Jack & Jones stores within Germany, regardless of their branding. The cooperation agreement was signed at the end of March. For I:CO, this partnership is the second with a brand under the Bestseller Group within a month after its cooperation with Selected Homme/Femme.

„Jack & Jones is a valuable partner for us. Like us, the brand is already deeply involved with the topics of sustainable materials and manufacturing possibilities, which is why we are looking forward to an exciting exchange. I am sure that we can still learn from each other and achieve a lot together,“ says SOEX Managing Director Walter J. Thomsen about the newly formed partnership.

I:CO and its parent company SOEX are thus supporting Jack & Jones in becoming one of the fashion industry’s pioneers when it comes to the implementation and promotion of greater awareness for sustainability. The cooperation aims to create a circular economy that doesn’t waste resources. In the end, every piece of clothing that stays in the cycle through re-wear, reuse or recycle is benefiting the planet – its materials and energy used in its production doesn’t need to be replaced. That‘s why at SOEX‘s sorting plants, every single garment or pair of shoes is sorted by hand and carefully inspected for quality and condition in a first step and later undergoes a fully automated sorting-for-recycling scan to determine its ideal recycling stream. The primary goal is to ensure the longevity of the clothing and shoes in order to avoid CO2 emissions and waste.

About I:CO and SOEX

I:CO, a subsidiary of the SOEX Group, is a global specialized service provider for the collection, sorting, reuse and recycling of used textiles and footwear. The sorting and evaluation of collected garments takes place in certified facilities and follows the international waste hierarchy: reuse takes precedence over recycling. Thanks to its innovative in-store take-back system and extensive network, I:CO offers fashion companies and end consumers around the world a simple but sustainable solution to dispose of garments sensibly and give them a second life. The result: a valuable contribution to the reduction of textile waste and relief of the environment, in which new resources are gained from old. In this way, I:CO also supports its fashion partners in integrating recycled fibers into their manufacturing process and closing the textile cycle entirely.
