Berlin, September 2022. SOEX supported the non-profit Foundation of the German Apparel Industry (SDBI) in the presentation of the European Fashion Award FASH 2022 by contributinga special reward.

During the Berlin Fashion Week, three young fashion designers were awarded the European Fashion Award FASH promotional prize. The young designers presented their creations at a fashion show during the Neo Fashion Graduates’ Days in Berlin. As a partner, the SOEX Group supported the award ceremony with a special prize of 1,000 euros. The theme of this year‘s award was to reuse worn clothing to create new designs, thus conserving important
resources.

The top-class jury awarded the prizes to Viola Schmidt from Reutlingen University and Idan Yoav and Lihi Mendel from the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art. For the first time, the European Fashion Award FASH did not honor new fashion designs, but exclusively new repurposed creations from worn clothing. Through the cooperation, SOEX supported the European Fashion Award in showing the potential of worn fashion: „We are happy to support this important award. For us, circularity starts with design, which is why we are happy to see more and more young talents taking sustainability into consideration,“ says Ann-Kathrin Lietz from I:CO, a SOEX subsidiary.

A circular fashion industry means avoiding waste, keeping products in circulation and regenerating nature. This aspiration has now reached the field of design, which has a major impact on the longevity of clothing. This is where the students‘ creativity and SOEX Group‘s role in sustainability came together. The SOEX Group sees it as its mission to make a valuable contribution to reducing textile waste. By extracting new resources from old, the environmental impact is reduced. SOEX Group is therefore pleased to have been involved in inspiring the next generation of fashion designers for a sustainable and circular fashion industry by sponsoring the European Fashion Award FASH 22.

The European Fashion Award FASH is considered one of the most important international prizes for fashion students. It is awarded by the non-profit Foundation of the German Apparel Industry (SDBI). The foundation was founded in 1978 and is thus the world‘s oldest organization for the promotion of fashion students.
